1. THE REACTION OF THOSE LISTENING TO THE WORDS OF JESUS
There are only two ways to react to what Jesus said:
a) You can believe and obey His words
b) You can ignore His words and suffer the consequences
There is no middle ground. It is either one or the other.
2. THE REASON FOR LISTENING TO THE WORDS OF JESUS
-
Because as we’re told in v29: “Jesus was teaching as one who had authority and not as their scribes.”
-
If we say we’ve believed in Jesus but our lives are not changed then we haven’t really believed.
3. THE RESULT OF LISTENING TO THE WORDS OF JESUS
a) You hear the words and DO them. You are a “doer”. You are wise. You become a disciple if you’ve surrendered to His will.
b) You hear the words and DON’T do them. You are a “don’t doer”. You are foolish. You go your own way and do not become a disciple.
-
Now you have a choice – a binary choice.
-
There are only two options: Will you or won’t you follow Jesus?
-
Will you be a “decided” disciple living for Jesus – no turning back?
-
Or will you decide to go your own way NOT living for Jesus?
